About the program
Leading Hotels of the World at Lyxresan Travels
Leading Hotels of the World was founded in 1928 by a group of European hoteliers who recognised that some hotels were genuinely incomparable — and that incomparability deserved a name. The LHW collection today encompasses more than 400 properties in over 80 countries, all independently owned and operated, all required to pass an annual quality inspection covering more than 800 criteria, assessed without advance notice. Membership cannot be purchased. It is earned, and it is forfeited when standards fall. The result is a portfolio of singular properties: Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc above the Cap d'Antibes headland, where no other address on the French Riviera quite applies; Badrutt's Palace in St. Moritz, which has anchored winter social life in the Engadine since 1896; The Pierre overlooking Central Park in New York, lovingly preserved as one of the great Fifth Avenue addresses.
Through our preferred advisor status with LHW, Lyxresan Travels delivers the Leaders Club amenity package at member properties — all confirmed before arrival, with VIP recognition throughout the stay. The LHW membership badge is one of the most reliable quality signals in luxury travel precisely because it cannot be purchased: it must be continuously earned.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about LHW
How does LHW ensure quality across such a diverse portfolio?
Every LHW property undergoes rigorous annual unannounced inspections covering over 800 quality criteria. Membership must be earned and maintained — properties that fall below standards are removed from the collection. This makes the LHW badge one of the most reliable quality signals in luxury hotel travel.
Are LHW hotels truly independent?
Yes. LHW properties are independently owned and operated — not managed by a hotel chain. This independence is what gives LHW properties their distinctive personalities. Many have been family-owned for generations and carry histories that no chain hotel can replicate.
